 2017 Preview 


       Dale County completed the 2016 season with a 7-4 record. With their 5-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 4A region two, the Warriors earned a spot in the playoffs in 2016. Dale County's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to UMS-Wright by a score of 36-0.

       The Warriors hope to continue the success they had last season. Coach Harrison saw improvement as they won seven games following a 1-9 record in 2015.

       Since 2010, Dale County has gone a combined 41-38. Their 52.0% winning percentage ranks 30th in Class 4A over the past seven seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Dale County has managed to compile a record of 139-142. Their 50.0% winning percentage ranks 29th in Class 4A and 188th in the AHSAA.

       The Warriors are led by head coach Pate Harrison who is entering his sixth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 39-20 over the past five seasons at Dale County. Under his direction the Warriors have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times. They have won two region crowns with Coach Harrison.

       Coach Harrison's overall record as a head football coach in five season stands at 39-20 (66.1%).

       The Dale County Warriors will play in Class 4A region two during the 2017 season.

       The Warriors should be considered one of the favorites for the region two championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs.

      Junior Tae Henderson returns after rushing for 441 yards on 68 carries and scoring 6 touchdowns.

       The Warriors open the 2017 season at home against non-region opponent Headland on Friday, August 25 at Warrior Stadium. Last year the Headland Rams finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in seventh place in Class 5A region two. The Rams closed out the regular season with a loss to Abbeville by a score of 46-34.

       Dale County and Headland have met a total of 77 times on the football field. The Warriors have a 34-42-1 record against the Rams. They last met in 2016 with Headland winning by a score of 14-6.

  


Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

The first night game played between high school teams in the state occurred on September 23, 1927 when Pike Road and Cloverdale met in the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.
